MAXIM, O.N.A. vs KMFDM & FEAR FACTORY, 5th release
Maxim feat. Skin - Carmen Queasy

Maxim is a former member of the Prodigy who now started his solo career. "Carmen Queasy" is his debut single. He invited Skin, the singer from Skunk Anansie into this number.

O.N.A. vs KMFDM - Never Want To... (Instrumental)

O.N.A. is the top rock band in Poland. They have released a remix album last year and one of the songs was remixed by KMFDM. I think it's worth listening to. I have uploaded the instrumental version for the obvious reason but I'll try to get an English version of another song of O.N.A. and then I'll upload it here.

Fear Factory - Remanufacture

Kinda hard to classify this very powerful tune but one way or the other it's surely a proof that heavy metal and hardcore techno have something in common. That something is Fear Factory ;)

Enjoy!

Hmm...
Am I really listening to the same Fear Factory song as everyone else? I think it's a good example of why I never really liked that group. It's heavy. It thumps a lot. But it doesn't have much energy behind it, it just kind of drags along. Reminds me a lot of the music NIN made for the orginal Quake. The vocals sound kind of amateurish, too. It sounds like they're trying way too hard a la Korn. It just doesn't have much to hold your attention, though I would gladly take this over a lot of what else is out there.

ONA vs. KMFDM : Like I said before, it has a markedly Tim Skold feel to it. Very different from KMFDM during their heyday, but it would fit right in on their final 1999 album.

*Blam blam blam; three more down*

Maxim: I dig the starting little bass line. I don't much care for the vocals, though they're not irritating.. as a whole, it doesn't do that much for me, there's not enough going on to make me want to sink my teeth in and tear it to pieces to find out just what the fuck is going on in THIS section, if you know what I mean. Pleasant to listen to, but I just kind of float through it, hearing it without actively listening (an important distinction, I think.)

ONA/KMFDM: Wow, this doesn't sound like the KMFDM I know from BJ2, but I've not heard any of their newer stuff, and they've changed a lot from what he's told me. Lotsa beeping and buzzing and chirping, quite the electronic smorgasboard. Some interesting polyrhythms going on in parts, which is cool. Lack of vocals is a minus, I think it'd be better with (granted, I've not heard the original.)

Fear Factory: Nice 'n hard. It grabs you, beats the shit out of you, lets you go for a second, then proceeds to jump on your head with steel toed boots. It reminds me of Pantera, esp. with the vocals. An interesting mix of the two styles, to be sure, though I'd prefer it if it were more one way or the other, or if the blending were more.. blended. It seems to switch suddenly from one style to the other with little or no transition; it's heterogeneous where I think homogeneous would work better. But then again, I'm a freak.

ok...

Yup, it's kool.

I don't much care for the vocals, though they're not irritating..

I like both Skin and Skunk Anansie, so the vocals add a good touch to the song for me

as a whole, it doesn't do that much for me, there's not enough going on to make me want to sink my teeth in and tear it to pieces to find out just what the fuck is going on in THIS section, if you know what I mean.

I know exactly what you mean and the main reason I like "Give Me Luv" by Alcatraz for (a bit off topic but hell ;) is that everytime I listen to it I hear something new. As for "Carmen Queasy" all the kool fx are heard in the instrumental version BUT it loses lots w/o the vocals IMO.

I haven't uploaded the vocal version, cos the vocals are in Polish... I have however found an english version of O.N.A.'s song "Is This The End Of The Story?". It's an original rock version, no remixes... IMO... a great track... like every one of O.N.A.'s.

Fear Factory: Nice 'n hard. It grabs you, beats the shit out of you, lets you go for a second, then proceeds to jump on your head with steel toed boots.

That's the way I would describe it... a great power trip.

Hehe... I on the other hand like the sudden style changes, they add power, which is the key attribute in "Remanufacture"

okay...
Maxim feat. Skin - Carmen Queasy

- A quite good track, but I've never like Skin (or Skunk Anansie either) so the totall isn't that great. I'd consider downloading more material by Maxim tho.

O.N.A. vs KMFDM - Never Want To... (Instrumental)

- I think a lot is lost without the lyrics being there... good tune, but nothing that'll stay on my HD.

Fear Factory - Remanufacture

- A strange song... I agree with what Landis says. It sort of feels like one tecno song and one rock song mixed together rather than one techno/rock song.

Re: okay...
Maxim feat. Skin - Carmen Queasy

I on the other hand like Skunk Anansie very much and that's one of the many reasons I like this track. There is an instrumental version of "Carmen Queasy" on the single. I'm sure you'd like this one, since there are some cool sound effects that are "covered" by vocals in the original.

Definately... vocals are very important in this tune.
