ALCATRAZ 'GIVE ME LUV' - a re-release
Time to get this place up and running again, so I decided to up my all-time favourite tune in all the versions I have for a start.

Alcatraz - Give Me Luv

A few words about the people responsible for the birth of this tune: Alcatraz are Jean Phillippe Aviance & Victor Imbres. Whilst living in LA J.P. Aviance went on to record 'Sunset People' and the 'Subsurface EP' for Deep Dish's Yoshitoshi label, a place that was soon to become his first record making home and inspiration. Whilst in Deep Dish's studio he made friends with their engineer, Victor Imbres, and realising they had a lot in common decided to make tracks together. In 1995 his hardwork and collaboration with Victor Imbres, as Alcatraz, resulted in one of the all time classic house tracks 'Give Me Luv' (released in the UK by AM:PM). Released to great acclaim in early 1996 the track debuted at No 9 on the National Charts, Alcatraz appeared on Top of The Pops, and a new house mega act was born. Alcatraz was not to last though. Victor Imbres got more involved in his own production work, whilst Jean-Philippe's Dj career really began to take off with nights at clubs all over the World including Twilo in New York, Heaven (London), Warsaw (Miami), and Yello (Tokyo). In the end each went their own ways and the much anticipated follow up never happened. (taken from the Jean Phillippe Aviance biography found at subversiverecords.co.uk)

Original Mix - The original mix is my favourite of all. It starts simple and slowly progresses, building up to a big breakdown, where the vocals are introduced. Connecting the vocals with the sounds from the intro, the track evolves to an almost anthemic ending.

Give Me Edit - a shorter version of the original mix.

Intro Mix - a longer version of the original mix with an interesting intro.

Deep Dish 11th Hour Remix - the Washington duo take a slightly different approach to the track. While the vocals on this one don't integrate as well with the music, it packs more punch than the original version. A very good remix, as expected from Deep Dish.

Alcatraz Mix - a remix done by Alcatraz themselves. Could be very interesting, if not murdered by hopeless vocals. Sadly, I haven't found a dub.

Give Me Funky Bass - a part of the Alcatraz Mix without vocals and some melody.

Victor Calderone Remix - while the remix itself isn't outstanding, the drums in it are very interesting. The vocals are also a bit different on this one but they integrate with the music well. Overall it ain't a bad remix, though it's just another 'tribal chugger' made by Calderone, not much different than his other productions.

Give Me Drums - a shorter dub version of the Calderone Remix.
