The Black Hand...
Map description: "The battle for Minas Tirith from Sauron's point of view. This is also a very long map. If your looking for a quickie this is not the map for you. The map is set for hard but actually as far as the play & strategy goes it can be described as expert."
Even though it took me 99 days to complete it, I'll defiately won't call it a quickie (as the author said). The scenario is very challenging, especially in the beginning and mid-game. You play "King of the Hill" against 6 players and you're in the center of attention from week 3 (if you're lucky, that is ;). You start with a Necropolis that has a Fort, Tavern and Marketplace built. You also get 3 starting heroes: a lvl 15 Sauron that has two of each unupgraded Necro armies and is meant to stay at the Necropolis to defend it. The loss condition is not to lose the town (Barad Dur) while trying to find your way to Minas Tirith. The other two heroes are Ring Wraiths: a demoniak (Calh - 2 Behemoths, 15 Medusae, 15 Minotaurs) and Beastmaster (Tazar - 2 Devils, 35 Orcs, 15 Trolls). Barad Dur is surrounded by dwellings of the creatures Ring Wraiths have. The starting goal is to buy as much troops as possible from these dwellings (which makes taking gold from chests a neccesity) and have the most powerful Wraith (or other hero hired from the Tavern) go to search for the first tent. Barad Dur must be built up as quick as possible, so it's neccesary to get the Sawmill and Ore Pit fast. After the hero is sent on his quest, all you have to worry about is defening Barad Dur. Once you survived the first month (upto two months) you can rest (90%) assured the town will not fall.
Great... the review changed to a walkthrough ;) Anywayz, the Barad Dur defense is just the beginning actually. The game is quite a challenge afterwards too. The only thing, I got disapponted with is the final battle. It *could* be more bloody.
Anywayz, I advice you to download the map (it's present on the H3 Trio) It's the best strategic scenario, I played lately and has definately the best (and sometimes very irritating ;) use of border gates.
