The strength of Diplomacy...
Isn't this skill too strong? After all, when you have Diplomacy you can even convince hostile stacks to join your hero (and sometimes even for free). This can have a devastating effect on multiplayer games. Having some strong stacks join your hero in the early phase of the game gives you an enormous advantage.
In HoMM2 Leadership was the skill that convinced wandering stacks to join you, while Diplomacy lowered the cost. Only the combination of these two skills gave the full functionality. In HoMM3 Diplomacy alone is used to convince armies to join you and lower the cost of their surrender.

it is very strong...
And I think other factors should be counted in.
Like having Black Dragon and approaching Titans should result in battle 100% of the time. Simply because they hate eachother.
And, BTW. I think Black/Dread Knights should hate Cavalry/Champions.

I think that having units that hate each other in
the same army should have some consequences. Perhaps a chance those Titans and Black Dragons decide to fight each other instead of the enemy, or a morale penalty, the thing i hate most is that arch angels give arch devils a morale bonus. This situation illustrates my problem Satan "Wow that St Micheal is a pretty motviational guy, i guess i can fight a bit harder for him"

*laughs*...
Yes, it's kinda stupid, isn't it.
I also think that having different dragons in the army should raise their morale.

I think that...
If you have Titans in your army and came upon a stack of black dragons, the drgons stance should automaticly change to "never joins/does not flee".
And if you have two "haters" in the army, the entire army drops to -3 Morale.

The morale drop was discussed here...
and as for joining, good idea.

Yes, I agree...
and having for example Angels and Devils in the same army would cause -3 morale for all troops.
After all, how can Angels and Devils fight together?

No,
I say do not let them in the same army at all.

Good idea...
the same with Black Dragons and Titans, Genies and Efreeti and the opposite elementals.

Whoa! opposite elementals?
I take it you're expecting the Flux to vanish.
But it's a good idea. have water and fire hate eachother. And disable the opposte summon spell if you have one sort in your army.

Opposite elementals do double damage to each...
other already, which is two times stronger than regular hatred. As for the summon spell you can only summon one type of elemental per battle.
I'm almost certain the Flux will vanish and I'm sure there will be a new home for the Phoenix. I don't think 3DO will make drastic changes in HoMM4. After all, we HoMM players are really conservative (we got every HoMM2 unit which was excluded in HoMM3 back in AB - besides the Ghost).

Re: Opposite elementals do double damage to each...
Well I heard that they will be using an entirely new engine and the strategies will be slight different. Should be interesting to see what they come up with.

don't remember if it was the comm or ol' boards...
but it was a 3do place and the poster was Mara, so this is no 7th hand gossip.
And reading what Mara said, they only showed "Chronicles" on e3 (and LoMM).
"Heroes Chronicles. It's a set of four titles based on the Heroes III game that are targeted to the occasional gamer. They feature Tarnum, the Immortal Hero as he works his way towards redemption. Each game is an eight map campaign that features different towns and terrains, and is very story-oriented. This is mostly to attract new people to Heroes, proving that you don't need a PhD in order to play the game. All four stories take place on Antagarich, and give some very interesting background to the world you have come to know and love." -Mara
