Buildings in h4.
I like the Magic Uni. that the Flux has (not out of a game balance view though).

But I think every town should have some kind of school that could teach a skill (but only 1).

The skill would be something charectaristic for the town (Fire Magic for Inferno, and so on..)

The skill would be at basic level, 'cept for the Necro.

The Necropolis would have a upg. to their 'school' so that they would be able to teach advanced and expert necromacy to heroes.

This would be to outweigh the fact that there are so few heroes available with necromancy, and you can't have a good Necro army without the Skeletal Legions.

That could prove interesting...
*but*, I fear that H4 will be based in jadame, and therfore recieve a major overhaul in the way the game plays and feels....
I'm not sure if this would have a place, although we can be hopeful...

I want to make a few additions though...
the school(s) need to have at least 1 kind of prerequisit(a mage guild for magic skills obviously)
and they need to have a fair cost, but not necesarily be a "standard" type of building that costs the same in all cities

hmmmm, too many useful ideas here. you should be careful not to give me too many :ţ

well... I was thinking...
somewhere in the lines of a lvl mageguild for the school itself.

But the necro upg school (which would be expensive!) would require something like lvl3 guild, Necro Amp, Mausoleum (an maybe a citadel).

Well, it sounds fair...
but like I said, I think the face of HOMM is changing and that you can't count on certain buildings to stay, except maybe the grail ;ţ

we need a spy

But the schools weren't in h3...
so they have a decent chance of getting into 4.

I don't expect a gigantic overhaul....
after all, we, homm players are pretty much conservative. We wouldn't like our game changing too much. The best example is the comeback of all Homm2 creatures to AB.

As for the buildings, I think there could be one skill for the might hero and one for the magic hero. Like you said, they should have different requirements and costs to balance the power of difficulties.

Example: using the table of sec skill advancement, Stronghold would get Offense and Logistics, Rampart - resistance and luck (I think) etc.

I'm not...
with the Forge and the AB critters... shows that NWC is taking the conservatists seriously.

Yes...
Heroes can't change much cos the hardcore players (in their majority) will not like it.

That's cause they ain't hardcore in the right way
homm needs change to survive...
3 was just another installment of 2 practically, and I still like 2 better :ţ

Well, it'll change now...
with 3d battles...

But I think the concept need to evovle a bit too.

Yes, I've been working on that one in my mind...
for awhile now...

I figure it should be psuedo-3D, where you have the "3D" spaces, but still have the 2D view...(I really don't want real time battles, too many TB games have them and it sucks...)

that's just me though

I think...
it'll be like the field we have now (but bigger) with the change that we can zoom around it as we wish.

And don't worry, there'll be no RTS poop in h4.
