Petrfiying armies...
Being inspired by the Disciples: Sacred Lands game unit - incubus, I thought about armies that could have a certain chance to petrify all troops in the opponent's army. It would of course have to be a high level unit.

I already proposed a Siren somewhere here, as a unit that wouldn't ever leave water. Any other suggestions?

Hmm... good Q
the EZ board folk are probably open minded about such things.

You know you're talking like a lev10 unit here...
is it gonna come from a castle?

I don't know of many things that can stone...
medusa/gorgon(*not* the cow :ţ)
basilisk

I don't think a siren would be appropriate, I thought they just made ships wreck...(kinda a "charm" thing going on for them)

of course, it could be a magic user of some sort(magician, etc[most likely female though])

it is an interesting possibility, but I just don't see it happening from a sole creature

Let's see...
if 3DO has the balls to do it ;)

I was thinking about incubus. It's a male demon, invading thoughts, if I'm not mistaken.

Now for its level. It could be level 7 in a town but then the town would be deprived of a good damaging unit, having a unit that only petrifies (and retaliates but not too strong). It would have to be balanced with the lvl6 unit (should be a bit better than the Dread Knight).

And about petrifying. Unupgraded would have 20% chance to petrify all (with at least one random unit that petrifies with 100%). Upgraded would have 30% chance to petrify all (with at least 2 random that always petrify).

If the unit is too strong, or the town can't manage without the lvl7 army, I think it can be a neutral creature (like a Siren - a creature living only on water and never leaving it).

An incubus, in my understading is...
a male demon that preys on women sexually, but yes, I suppose the "invading thoughts" bit is correct...
but ummm, I thought you meant "turn to stone" not "petrify w/ fear" :ţ(cause that's what 'invading thoughts would do... *and*, he could only, really affect female units)

well...
what if it was a homosexual incubus?

a gayubus?

A serious answer to Beltion...
I believe the *male* unit he was attacking would have to swing the same way in order to be "persuaded" by the incubi's affections...(also, I don't think it works like that :ţ)

but I suppose you could consolidate incubis/succubis into one unit called the omnubus, to cover all creatures :ţ
hehe

and to Beh...
I suppose you might as well call the creature a "chaos spawn/elemental" and have it do whatever you please, it's the only way I see this topic ending in your favor [h(alf)/k];ţ

Forget the incubus...
I got this idea from the Disciples: Sacred Lands game and I guess Incubuses there are BI-ncubuses ;)

As for the unnamed (as for now ;) ) petrifying unit, it would have to have the ability to affect all units in battle. Sirens sing, and that could be their attack. Know any other creatures that have an ability like that?
