The return of the Ghost...
This creature was the most unbalancing factor in HoMM2. Still, I'd like to see it in HoMM4 - better balanced of course.

Let's say, a Ghost stack gets +1 to its quantity for each 5 creatures it kills. If the number doesn't divide by 5, there is 5% of a chance for every unit above 5 to reanimate as 1 Ghost. Example:
5 units: 1 Ghost
6 units: 1 Ghost + 5% chance for 1 Ghost extra
7 units: 1 Ghost + 10% chance for 1 Ghost extra
8 units: 1 Ghost + 15% chance for 1 Ghost extra
9 units: 1 Ghost + 20% chance for 1 Ghost extra
10 units: 2 Ghosts
... and so on.

I absolutely hated those creatures. Gave me friggin' nightmares when duking it out with them.

he Best creature in *any* of the homms... :ţ
I say bring them back like they were before(1/5 is way too few), although, maybe they could have an upgrade to "spectre" or something, that came with an increase to 1/3...

and definitely let them join heroes, *especially* undead armies...

also, just as aside, I liked the Homm2 "promo scheme" better than 3's(ie, 3 upgds for dragons,but none for griffins, etc... this isn't to say I don;t like royal griffins though, it's just that their abilites are equivalent to the 2's 'normal' griffins :ţ)
I only make this remark, as I found that system for "free" than the one in 3, where *every* creather had to have an upgd(and you almost *had* to use them to win :ţ)

The ghosts' ability is very powerful...
so it should be delicately balanced, and most importantly based on HP's, so the hero attacking 1000 peasants wouldn't get extra 200/333+1/3 ;) .

As for joining heroes, I think if properly balanced they could be allowed to do that.

naah...
however it is done, they'll be hard to balance. And I'm not really that desperate to get the ghosts back. So I'd rather have Mara use her teams time on the rest of the game.

I think Ghosts could be balanced...
and it'd be cool if they'd come back. In HoMM2 they were neutral creatures and never joined a hero. It could be that way in HoMM4 too.

They would be an interesting creature...
and players would have to develop different tactics to kill them. Also, if a computer player would learn to use ghosts right it could get interesting.
