Town Defense
I'm starting a new thread, the "Field Fortification" thread went this way but I'd still like to start fresh.
The way I see it there should be many more ways of defending a town than just walls and turrets.
Atop the ideas in the previous thread, I'd like these two.
A "magic resisten aura" 20% chance for a friendly unit to resist a spell while inside the walls. (no protection outside.)
A "First Aid Building" replaces the tent in combat (takes the same place too) is twice as effective and can only be destroyed with the catapult.

You guys hurt my head...
not that I don't have anything to input ;ţ...
okay, new idea... an additional 50% height to the wall, this reduces ranged attacks by an addition 25%...
old ideas: I recall one to let archers be stationed *on* the wall(it could be an upgrade thing) and of course, the fortifications from the knight castle in H2 should be brought back...

Actually...
there was a ide to put archers in the Keep.
And the wall increase was discussed too. I think I proposed that every town would have the three basic extra upg. to choose from, and they could build one:
1. Highten wall to hinder enemy ranged units. 2. Put up a net to hinder enemy fliers 3. Strenghten the wall, making it harder to knock down.
This would make the game interresting since you'd build the defensive structure depending on what monsters you expect to attack you. You'd go with option 1 if you're fighting Tower, while the necro opponent could probably suffer more from the net.

I remember the net...
but not the height increase... but you know, a taller wall should take more movement for a flier to clear too...
I just had another revelation, but it needs some work before I post... I'm going away for a week now, though :ţ

How about a town...
that has a wall protecting from *all* archers but also makes shooting impossible for the troops remaining inside?

Hmmm...
I could envison a magic wall that you can choose weather to activate or not before battle.

I would go further...
and propose a magic wall level for each spell level. A hero could choose which levels he wants to activate before battle.

I was thinking that Fortress...
due to its swampy grounds could slow down all critters (not counting the native ones).
Let's sum up the specials somehow (including the ones from the previous thread)
