A new spellsystem...
I very much liked the addition of the four schools in h3, but I'd like to add a bit to that.

What if there were spells that could be deppendant on more than one school of magic?

Take for instance Anti-Magic and Magic Mirror.

Combine them into a lvl 4 spell "Magic Resistance"

It would feature the effects of both spells depending on how well you master the 2 schools of Air and Earth.

In example, a Hero has Expert Air and Advanced Earth and cast this spell on a stack. Then only lvl 5 spells may be cast at that unit, and they have a 40% chance of striking back at the opponent.

Great idea...
there could be a combination of Blind and Fear, Slow and Gravity.

I know... it's past 2am.
they start coming about this time *grin*

But Gravity/Slow are earth spells, kind of hard to combine Earth/Earth

And isn't Fear supposed to be Fire, as is Blind.

But I can invison a Sorrow/Fear Earth/Fire Combo.

Don't bother me with details ;)

Bloodlust/Shield?
aren't they kind of uncompatible spells?

I had in mind something more in the lines of similar spells co-existing.

I could see a Air Shiled/Shield combo.

As well as a Land Mine/Quicksand combo.

Sorry... Bloodlust/Stone Skin ...
would raise both battle abilities (A and D) of a fighting unit. For archers it'd be Precision/Stoneskin.

I could see a Bloodlust/Precision combo...
But I'd like to keep the combos either offensive or defensice. Not both.

I wouldn't mind a Missfortune/Weakness combo.

Or a Frenzy/Disrupting Ray one *grin* that would hurt!

I think...
Misfortune/Sorrow would fit better then.

Or combos that are cast on both - you and nme:
Bloodlust/Disrupting Ray
Stone Skin/Weakness
Precision/Forgetfullness

that's another thing...
I don't think you should have spells that affect both your and your enemys troops.
What I'd want is that two spells that do roughly the same thing be combined.

Let's bring this thread up again... :)

okay, what I want is to be able to cast more spells on my enemies, including some off those that are now restricted on being cast on my own troops.

For example I would like to cast teleport on my opponents *grin*
And I'd like to cast Frenzy on them too.

Maybe that could be a hero special...
or come w/ GM on certain spells
it would prove interesting(I have a hard time justifying frenzy though[but I do believe that a powerful enough caster *should* be able to cast any*thing* any*where* ;ţ])

I agree...
Somethimes I wish I could cast Lightning Bolt on the Ballista. I close to always regret when I take the damned thing cos it "unblinds" enemies.
Beltion

yes...
I always hand away the ballista when I get Blind if I don't have Artillery.

And as for the Frenzy, it does bring the defense down to 0 (while increasing attack)
Say you got a powerful enemy stack that you want to kill, it's already moved and used up it's retal. Cast Frenzy on it and watch your troops inflict a world of pain on it.

It could also be used quite well by a Inferno player who has two fast no-retal critters.

As for frenzy...
Genies should have a spell they cast shown in the message box, like Faerie Dragons do. I really hate it when they cast Frenzy and cause my units to have a world of pain...
Beltion

yup, I hate that too...
I wouldn't mind if Frenzy was removed from the Genies alltogether, it is a risky spell to use.

Genies should also *think* when they cast...
Sometimes they cast completely useless spells, like Air Shield when there's no shooters etc.
Beltion

Are there turrets?
'cause I know the genies do think, a bit at least.

For instance they never cast "protection freom X" when there is no enemy hero.

No turrets...
that was just an example. They also cast Bloodlust on shooters or Shield when fighting shooters.
Beltion

better that way...
have you noticed that having a Air Shield doubles turret damage?

(makes bringing those Enchanters along quite a risky busines.)

WHAT?
Never knew that... wonder why's that happening.
