Unique Abilities...
It's late... and all sorts of ideas are poppong into my head.

So, this thread is for discussing the unique hero abilites.



My first proposal (in this thread)

Terrain Specialists.
All units under one of these heroes get home terrain benefits on a certain terrain. (doubled, if that's their actuall terrain)

So, a Inferno troops would get home terrain specials on grass if led by a grass specialist.

Yes, an Avatar might be interesting...
kinda a good or evil "golem" so to speak(even though they have their own will :ţ)

the skill would only allow one, once per battle though(and it would be a *set* allignment, earth, air, good, evil, etc...), any addition in "level" would only make it stronger...

Referring back to my last post, "stronger" can be
any number of things...(which could be hardcoded into the ability to summon)

+A/D/HP(all 3, no exceptions. it's only fair)
+speed
+spell casting ability(if it came w/ any)
+to specials(ie. chance to...)
+new ability(ie. flight/teleport/no retal/double strike...)

Another idea...
it might be nice to have one 'necro' hero that had a "morale always equals 0(for both heroes in a battle)"...
kinda like my "always on" arti sugestion, but specifically to a necro because a)nercos are forbidden leadership(so it would be a change form the ordinary), and b)it would be nice to be able to use living units in combo w/ undead w/ just *one* hero w/o needing an artifact to make it effective :ţ

But the necro could work too... or rather a Death Knight for that skill...

okay... here are a few specialtys:
Siege Specialist

When in siege, the hero gets control of the Catapult or Towers, even if he doesn't have the requiered skill.


Rouge

Hero gets the benefits that rouges normally bring applied all the time.


Disguise

Hero always gets the benefit of the Disguise spell applied. (either at Advanced level, or first at basic then at a certain level -> Advanced effect.

anyway, I think it might be kinda neat to see a hero w/ a skill to "summon" elementals, kinda the way necromancy works...
afterall, in a sense, the elementals from homm are simply golems, just elemental golems...

someone wanna help me flesh this out here??

seeing elementals lack of flesh. :b

But seriously, pikeman --> skeleton is understandable, but pikeman --> Water Elemental is a bit farfetched.

The same with other elementals and golems.



But how about making Gargoyles and Golems neutral and have a "summon" spell for them too.
(and IMO elementals should be much stronger)

I said *similar*, not "exactly like"...
and it's an ability, not a skill here(although maybe that could be introduced here too)

I was thinking more laong the lines that, dependent upon terrain, different elementals(golems) could be summoned up from the ground...
maybe just one very powerful one?(and call it a golem to distinguish it from elementals?)

I don't know...

Ooh, ooh, I got another one...
how about a specialty that kinda acts like mysticism, but is based on hero level...
that might make those certain amgic heroes worth taking occasionally ;ţ

but back to the immunity thing...
if we do it Beh's way, it should function more like resistance, rather than immunity, I was thinking that the specialty would be like having a certain artfact w/ you at all times(well, in net effect anyway)...

I got another one...
it might be kinda interesting to see a hero who gave all his creatures the ability to use their 'retaliatory' attack first, *before* the enemy got to strike them ;ţ

How about...
a hero who gives the benefits of a counterstrike spell to all his units?

All units retaliate twice! (or maybe even trice)

That could work...
but I rather like the idea that all units are "agressive" too...

I'm thinking it might be cool to have a hero who had a "wind walking" ability, that allowed all creatures to be "flying" units...
(maybe even a walter walking hero... or at least one that negated the effects of the moat)

special immunities to certain magics or abilities...

immunities to damage spells of a certain school?

As for unit special abilities... let's say every specialty would be either earth, air, water, fire, death or life and the immunities would be to these?

like stone gaze - earth
death stare - death
etc.
