*unleashes himself upon the tavern once again*
Yep, it's been a while. RL has demanded my attention one and a half year ago and the net became merely a tool for downloading music since then. And now I see there's not much left to come back to. 3DO dead, most of the forums (including this one) inactive as well. Too bad, it was fun while it lasted.
Anywayz, how've ya been, Belt? Still using ICQ? I reinstalled it today but I have yet to encounter someone I used to talk to, even Black Marauder is offline and he used to be on 24h/day. Mail me at mirek@otwock.net.pl if you visit here again (my H3trio address is inactive for few mths now). Hope to hear from you.

Yeah, I'm still on ICQ... although very rarely. I just shot you of a message. Let's see if it catches you.

Re: *unleashes himself upon the tavern once again*
For some strange reason I can't connect to ICQ since Friday. It probably has something to do with my system. I need to reinstall it this week. XP may be faster than 98 but it definately isn't as stabile.
As for music, my taste has drifted almost completely into house. I rarely check out trance tunes now. Same goes for progressive, though I look into that area a bit more often. The last trance tune was on my chart last year, quite high at that (once or twice at #1). It was Hydra's "Affinity". I'll check out the one you mentioned.
Meanwhile, how 'bout a chart analysis? ;-)

I - position in the 2003 chart II - number of points (for each week on the chart a tune is given points: 1 pt for #30, 2 pts for #29 upto 30 pts for #1) III - highest position IV - number of weeks at #1 V - number of weeks on the chart
This year's chart has turned out quite interesting. In the top 3 I have two Polish tunes (#1 and #3). They are not exactly club and house oriented but don't drift far away from the genre. On #2 following close behind we have a fantastic EP from Cyclo Records - 4 great deep house tracks I fell in love the first time I heard'em. Circulation have also stormed my chart this year with their most successful so far record "Chocolate". This year they have only one record in the top 50. Jason Jinx however managed to squeeze in 3 of his tunes to the chart and these are: "Spinning Around" - #22 - under his 'Joystick' moniker, "Funky Business" by Jam Project - #24 - remixed by Jinx and his own production for Defected "Your First Time" at #40. Both Johnick and Kaskade have two tunes in the top 50. Johnick's "Light EP" is at #10, while "Next To Me" at #32 and Kaskade with "It's You It's Me" is at #19 and with "Brighter Day" co-produced with Miguel Migs at #35. Also Weekend World has two tracks in the chart. "Cubes" at a very high #5 and 40 positions lower "Twister". The third Polish production (released by Fresh Fruit Records, Belgium) in the top 50 is WaWa "Blze" at #18.
This year I have moved more into the deep, funky & disco house area as opposed to my last year's progressive fascination. The debut of the year for me would be Kaskade - a massive amount of quality productions, it was a tough choice choosing specific records for the chart. Also Reel People deserve attention. Their first single "Can't Stop" (#12) is wonderful, as well as the whole album ("Second Guess"). Biggest disappointment... Peace Division, I guess. They haven't released anything that would drive me crazy this year (as opposed to tunes like "Lottie's Vogue" or "Do U See Me?") Same goes for Shakedown. They seem to be a one hit wonder ("At Night"). "Drowsy With Hope" reworked by K-Klass was good but just not good enough. Also John Creamer & Stephane K haven't released anything interesting for me this year (well, maybe besides "Storm").
And here I'd recommend 5,6,7,16!,21,27,30!,36,38!,39,41,44,47,50. The ones marked with '!' I strongly recommend.
And asides from the club music climates, it's the third month of my fascination with Placebo. Been also listening to The White Stripes, Blaze and I completed the Iron Maiden discography about a year ago.
Oh, and one more thing. "Sandstorm" is on EACH ONE of our parties in the student's house. ;-)
I'll beep you once I finally take care of this system and will be able to use ICQ once again.

"Oh, and one more thing. "Sandstorm" is on EACH ONE of our parties in the student's house."
On behalf of the nation, our apologies. Your friends should step into the new milennium and at least switch to "Music". Or "Close to you", which is actually ok.
And if you want to check out music from up here, you might like Orkidea. One of his tracks is available at http://www.blackholerecordings.nl/home.php3 if you can handle streaming audio on your connection. Not his best one, but still.
Oh, and now playing over here: Conjure One (- Tears From The Moon. Killer tune, I like the Tiësto In Search of Sunrise Remix but the Hybrid's Twisted On The Terrace Remix might be more up your alley.

Re: *unleashes himself upon the tavern once again*
I'm afraid we're conservative in that matter, there is a set of tunes we dance to everytime. And while some of them are total crap, to some of us it doesn't matter after some time ;-) And as for Sandstorm, I think it's somewhat a classic and time proved it's a good tune.
Is it safe to assume that your chart analysis returned no results this time? :-) I thought so, since practically all the tunes are house.
As for Conjure One, did you know it's a side project of one half of Delerium? Their "Centre of the Sun" remixed by 29 Palms reached 9 on my chart as far as I remember. Tears from the Moon is ok in the original, haven't checked out the remixes yet though. I had them in my queue on SoulSeek but had some trubbles with dlding.
And as for Mind Circles, I dlded the original yesterday, still have the Passiva remix to track down. The original is ok, though it's not a stand out trance record.
And as for Orkidea, he has remixed "Flight 643" for Tiësto a few years ago and that's all I've heard of him.
And as for the apologies, your nation should apologise to the world for unleashing the monstrocity called The Rasmus upon it. They should've always remained in the shadows... :-)

Re: *unleashes himself upon the tavern once again*
Yes, Orkideas wintergalactic remix was a wast improvement of Flight. Speaking of the flight, there's also a nice bootleg that mixes it with Kosheen - Hide U.
As for your charts, I recognized artists like Solid Session, Mara, Hybrid, Lustral, Ashtrax and of course Hydra.
Hydra aka Steve Helstrip, Insigma, Rapid Eye, En-Motion and The Thrillseekers is really up my alley.
And yeah, I'm still not that deep into house, caught a couple of real good prog house dj's spinning in person, and they do get crowds moving (behrouz and deep dish for instance), but it's still trance that gets to me, specially when spun bu a good dj.

Re: *unleashes himself upon the tavern once again*
You mean you actually been on a Deep Dish or Behrouz gig? Cool... haven't caught them playing in Warsaw yet. Though, on the other hand, prog house in clubs isn't much my alley either. It's good for an hour or two maybe but since I usually spend at least 5 hours on the dancefloor on a clubbing night, I couldn't imagine dancing all this time to, let's face it, quite monotonic music. In clubs I prefer deep house, vocals very welcome, with funky, disco or latin influences. There is a small difference between what I like to listen at home and what I like to dance to in clubs. Some tunes are a bit too commercial to find a place on my chart (like Laurent Wolf projects - "Calinda", "Saxo", "Happy TV" or Junior Jack's tunes - never got too high on the chart) but they are great crowd warmers. "E Samba" or "Da Hype" are a must-play for one of the DJs in the club I visit most frequently. Same goes for "Let The Sunshine In" by Milk & Sugar. I have yet to attend a trance gig though ;-)
And for the record: the Solid Session on my chart ain't the Solid SessionS I had on the chart two years ago (with a remix of "Blair B!tch" for example). They released a white label with "Justify" & "I Feel", the alikeness of names is accidental.

Re: *unleashes himself upon the tavern once again*
So which Solid did "Janeiro"?
And it was a Behrouz and Deep Dish gig, both on the same night.
And cheezy house like you mention is everywhere around here, I could bare listening to it but most clubs that play it usually tosses in everything from jean paul to evanescence into the mix. *shrugs*

Re: *unleashes himself upon the tavern once again*
The "old" Solid - the one from the "Blair B!tch" remix. Janeiro was cool until it got murdered by vocals, by the way.
I have yet to hear Sean Paul or Evanescence in a house club, believe me. That's the difference between a house club and a mass club (we also have lots of that crap here and that's the kind I prefer to avoid). Mass clubs play commercial tracks and throw in a couple of those tunes I mentioned, while house clubs use these tunes though in an overall good mix of quality tracks. In other words: don't you dare to accuse me of going to cheesy house gigs ;-)

Re: *unleashes himself upon the tavern once again*
Just because there's a cheesy house tune played doesn't mean it's a cheesy house gig. Heck, I was at a Picotto gig and he played Room 5 - Make luv. You can say a lot about Picotto, but I don't think anybody, ever, has accused him of being a cheezy house dj.
We don't have any "normal" house clubs over here, the options are the mass clubs or the deep prog house ones. Heck, there are a bunch of people that think techno and house are the same because they usually share a minimal shelf at the record store...
And even at the prog house place there's a risk of running into the nightmarish sound of evanesence... damn you Gabriel & Dresden!

Re: *unleashes himself upon the tavern once again*
I never actually liked Picotto (well, maybe when I was on my Mario Piu / hard house kick, but that, thank God, died a quick death ;-), nor did I hear him play.
As for Room 5 (aka Junior Jack), it's a cheese monster. I had "Make Luv" quite high on my chart in 2001 (then I didn't know it was Room 5 as it's been mislabeled as "Tunes" by Soul Providers when I dlded it). The version I had was sort of a dub mix, contained only the chorus vocals repeated and was sped up a bit. I must admit it is a good track (though I like the promo version more than the later released commercial version) but the follow up "Music & You" is unbearable, same probably goes for the whole album, though I haven't and will not check it out. I guess it's more about the money than about the music, and for quite a while at that.
And what city is your clubbing central, if I may ask? Here in Warsaw we have a wide spectrum of clubs. I don't exactly live in Warsaw but 30 km south in a 'tad' smaller city. It is big for a city but since it's so close to Warsaw, the nightlife here is scarce. As for Warsaw clubs not many are strictly house oriented, a majority is just clubbing oriented and has nights for specific genres. There are lots of house nights, some prog/deep ones and some techno/drum'n'bass. Haven't heard of popular trance nights however but that may be cause I haven't been searching for any. Anywayz, in the mentioned clubs the risk of hearing Evanescence (or anything murdered by G&D) is scarce.
